A&M Construction Company was formed in 1980 by Dan C. Austin, Sr., R. W. Mullins, Jr. and Leonard Barrier. The company has successfully completed individual contracts for construction up to ten million dollars in size, and is currently bondable for projects up to five million dollars. A&M has specialized in office construction with particular emphasis in midrise, “institutional grade” buildings. The firm has also acted as general contractor on branch bank facilities, retail outlets and multi-family and single family residential projects. More recently the company has been engaged in the construction of transmitter buildings and broadcast studios for the radio and television industry and is currently the general contractor on numerous projects for N.C. State University. Leonard Barrier is President and CEO of the corporation and was previously with Laxton Construction Company of Charlotte, N.C. Dan Austin has developed numerous residential, office and retail projects throughout the Research Triangle. R. W. Mullins was previously with Cameron-Brown Mortgage Company and is currently developing several residential and commercial real estate projects in the area.
